Educators In Industry

You can earn recertification credits in one of two ways - by attending general and concurrent sessions or through the Educators in Industry courses. Listed below are answers to many of the questions frequently asked about earning credits through the Educators in Industry courses.

1. How many Educators in Industry Courses are available?
All Summit attendees are eligible to complete annually, and in sequence, one of three Educators in Industry courses:

  • Educators in Industry
  • Educators in Industry Advanced, and
  • Educators in Industry Implementation.*
*(This course requires board policy development and presentation.)

Indicate your interest in one of these three courses by marking the appropriate areas on the Summit registration materials and course information will be mailed to you prior to the event.

2. How many recertification hours can I earn through the Educators in Industry courses (EIC)?
For each of the courses that you successfully complete, you can earn 3 hours of recertification credits. Please note: It is the responsibility of each attendee to make sure that earning recertification credits by taking an EIC course is appropriate and approved for his or her personal professional development plan.

3. How do I register for the course?
Select the course on your Summit Registration Form. Once you do this, you will automatically receive course materials in the mail prior to the Summit. Attend a session during each time period throughout the Summit and take notes pertaining to each session. EIC participants must attend the EIC seminar on Sunday afternoon and a debriefing held on the last morning of the Summit (see Summit Program for details). If you do not receive materials prior to the Summit, or you decide to register for a course after registering for the Summit, you should attend the Sunday afternoon EIC seminar after you pick up your Summit packet at registration on Sunday afternoon.

4. What constitutes the coursework?
In addition to the concurrent sessions that you choose to attend, you will be required to attend several specific sessions during the Summit, including meetings at the conference on Sunday and Wednesday. You will also have writing assignments to complete and follow-up assignments to be completed by November 1. Details about specific course requirements will be shared at the required EIC seminar on Sunday at the Summit.

5. Can I also get credits by tracking my session attendance with stickers?
No—You may do either, but not both. Attendance at a required number of Summit sessions is already calculated into the number of credits that you will earn by completing the course.

6. What does it cost to take the course?
The Educators in Industry courses are available at no cost to you as a registered Summit participant. You may only take a course once.
